Where to Manage the Sitemap

The sitemap is managed globally under SEO Manager > Sitemaps.

Who Can Manage the Sitemap

Only users in one of the following user groups can access the robots manager:

  • WebAdmins: Full admin access to all of SEO Manager.
  • SitemapAdmins (+ WebEditors): Full admin access to the sitemap manager.

WebEditors without the SitemapAdmins user group assigned will not be able to access the sitemap manager at all.

Properties

Domain *

Required; site domain.

Enabled

Determines if the sitemap.xml is active or not.

Site Root IDs *

Required; determines the ID of the parent page/folder(s) that contain the site content.

This is commonly only set to the Homepage ID (28815). Multiple IDs are typically only applicable if you want uploaded media files to be included (PDFs, images, etc.).

Excluded URL Paths

Optional; allows URLs that begin with a specific relative path to be excluded from the sitemap (only paths from the full automatic alias are applicable, no simple addresses). For example:

/test-content/
/about-us/hidden-bios/

How to Change the Last Modified Date

The out-of-the-box Modified Date is used as the last modified date in the sitemap. If you want to change a previously-published page's modified date in the sitemap, check the Update modified date checkbox on the Settings tab and then republish to have it update to the current date & time.
