We address two vital tax matters in this issue from both a compliance and process standpoint. On compliance, the new Section 965 deemed repatriation tax on certain foreign earnings is in full swing, with the potential tax being due as early as mid-April for U.S. corporations. Due to this time crunch, it is important to understand the key aspects of the Section 965 provision that was born from the recent Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Regarding process, the rise of automated technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are becoming more prevalent in today’s business world to improve efficiency in tax compliance tasks. However, these new approaches come with potential pitfalls to avoid. We address several technical and cultural missteps to be aware of when introducing automated tax practices.
