Strategy is the foundation of any business. Having a written plan that formalizes goals in areas such as business development, operational efficiencies and human resource management can help the business, ownership and a family get all employees (both family and non-family) to be on the same page. This can help move your business in the direction you wish by putting the process into action.

Hi, my name is Matt Kerzner. I'm a director in the Center for Individual and Organizational Performance. Today, I want to talk to you a little bit about our strategic planning process. We call it the strategic roadmap. And in this process, we can help you and your organization put a plan together to look for three to five years out within your organization. There are several parts to this, and I'm going to go through each one of them with you.
The first one is understanding your mission. The second one is core values. What do you believe in? What is that route? The vision. What do you want to be? Once you do that, then we can put some goals together for the organization, your objectives, and what you want to accomplish. Then we're going to look at a few different areas so we can understand the strategy and the measures for each one. Then we need to cascade it down into initiatives and projects. So every department and employee is going to be rowing in the same direction.
If we at the Center can help you deal with the emotions before the emotions take over putting the strategic plan together, you're going to be in great shape. We have a solid team here to help you put this plan together and we look forward to working with you.
