EisnerAmper Founding Partner, Alfonse M. Mattia, Dies

Alfonse M. Mattia passed away Sunday, October 2. Al was a Founding Partner of Amper, Politziner & Mattia, one of the legacy firms of EisnerAmper.

Al was a visionary in the accounting profession. Known for his leadership and innovative thinking, Al was highly respected by his peers and colleagues. He was a long time proponent of the value of marketing for accounting firms and was integrally involved with the development of his firm’s market facing programs and initiatives.

Al was an active member of the AICPA, New Jersey and New York State Societies of Certified Public Accountants, and Harvard Business School Club of New York. Al also served three years on the AICPA’s Assurance Services Executive Committee. He has also served as a member of “The Group of 100," a national group formed by the AICPA to protect the public interest and position the accounting profession for the future.

Al was a founding member of the Rutgers University Family Business Forum, an honorary member of the Beta Alpha Psi Organization, and served on the Board of Directors of several public, private and civic organizations. With over 40 years in public accounting, Al had a strong focus on family-owned businesses. He also served as a member of the Board of Trustees at Rider University. He was instrumental in developing the "More Than Just Numbers" program, created to educate young children regarding career opportunities in the accounting profession. He received his B.S.in Commerce from Rider University and completed the Owner/President Management Program at the Harvard Business School (1982–1984).

Al will be missed greatly by his family, friends, and the profession.
